The Finland-Bulgarian co-production was screened as a 'work in progress' at SOFIA MEETINGS by the name "The Mayor of Nowhere" and the world premiere of the film was in the program of the most prestigious Forum for documentary films - IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam), which ended on November 27.
In
a small Bulgarian village troubled by the ongoing refugee crisis, a
local postman runs for mayor — and learns that even minor deeds can
outweigh good intentions...
The screening of "The Good Postman" in the program of Sundance Film Festival is the North American premiere.
Previous Tonislav Hristov's films - "Rules of Single Life", "Soul Food Stories", "Love & Engineering", "Once Upon a Dream - A Journey to the Last Spaghetti Western" participated in different editions of Sofia International Film Festival and Sofia Meetings and also in 2011 "Rules of Single Life" won Audience Award for Best Documentary at 15th Sofia Film Fest.
