Lithuanian documentary film director, born in 1961. He studied mathematics at Vilnius University and later graduated from the Lithuanian Music Academy. Hi is the founder of one of the first independent film production companies in Lithuania, Nominum. He debuted in 1989 with the short film Giants of Pelesa. His first feature-length documentary, Before Flying Back to Earth (2005), received numerous awards at the festivals in Zagreb, Madrid, Leipzig and New York. In 2006 he became a member of the European Film Academy. Wonderful Losers: A Different World (2017) is his latest feature-length documentary.
